Permanent bollards are fixed in place for good, standard protection for high-traffic or high-security areas. Removable bollards lift out and store away when you need full access, then lock back in when you don’t. Retractable drop flush with the ground at the push of a button or key switch, giving you the same protection without the lifting and carrying. Which one suits your site comes down to how often you need to open it up and how much manual handling you’re happy to do.
It depends on the type. A permanent bollard will generally last as long as it isn’t damaged in a vehicle strike, as there are no moving parts to wear out. A retractable bollard has a mechanism, so its lifespan comes down to regular servicing rather than a fixed use-by date. All Ramguard bollards come with a 12-month warranty on parts supplied and installed.
